The software and hardware system includes a head model, a laptop and a simulation ophthalmoscope. The system is designed to simulate medical situations as a base for practical diagnostic skills developing with the help of direct and reverse ophthalmoscopy. The equipment and software allow to work with real ophthalmic instruments. The training and exam modes allow simulation cycles included in the training program for residents in the specialty “Ophthalmology”.
Functional features:

- realistic image of the fundus;
- display of the ophthalmological picture and trainee actions on the monitor for control by the teacher are possible;
- teacher’s assigning of a script to trainee is possible remotely from the operator’s laptop;
- contains real images of the fundus with a description of the clinical condition and the allocation of pathological changes;
- ability to update remotely (via the Internet) and / or directly from the operator’s laptop;
- ability to create targeted programs using the original illustrative material.
The system contains a set of default pathologies:
- dystrophy of the fundus;
- neoplasms of the retina and choroid;
- normal fundus;
- acquired diseases of the optic nerve;
- acquired macular diseases and related conditions;
- vascular diseases of the retina.
The simulator is intended for use at medical educational institutions.
